Gateshead Artistic Swimming Club
Welcome to Gateshead Artistic Swimming Club (GASC) (previously Gateshead Synchro), we are one of the biggest and most successful artistic swimming clubs in the North of England and we were founded in 1960.
We compete across the country in both regional & national competitions.
What is Artistic Swimming?
Artistic swimming is an incredibly strenuous and skilful sport. In a test on all the Olympic sports before the London 2012 Olympic Games found artistic swimmers ranked second to long distance runners in aerobic capacity!
Artistic swimmers need strength to perform twists and lifts and can hold their breath underwater for around a minute.
They also need rhythm and flair to synchronise and interpret the music, which they listen to through underwater speakers. Artistic swimming routines are essentially athletic movements performed in water and choreographed to music.

We are an inclusive club and invite anyone who has passed Swim England Stage 7 or equivalent to start with us. Your first session is free. More information please see our Join Us Page

We are based at Dunston Leisure Centre, NE11 9PY and train there 3 times a week. We are an affiliated Swim England club.
